Makalu Base camp TrekThe Makalu Base Camp is culturally and environmentally diversed region among the other other trekking regions in Nepal enclude Mt. Makalu the world's fifth highest montain peak. It is also known as off beaten area by the trekkes because of the geographical remoteness as well as adverse climatic condition, which normally caused hazardous mountain sickness.

We have two excess points for this trek by air Kathmandu/Tumlingtar and another alternative is by overland Kathmandu/Hile via Dharan. Still we have

Kathmandu/Biratanagar by air and drive to Hile via Dharan.


ITINERARY - 22 DAYS MAKALU BASE CAMP TREKS

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu . Welcome clients at the airport and trasfer to hotel and check-in. A short briefing on the program after refreshment.

Day 02: Full day sightseeing two medieval cities in Bhaktapur and Patan.

Day 03: Kathmandu/Tumlingtar/Kandbari: We have regular flight in this sector normally arrives at Tumlingtar by afternoon. Then it will be 3/4 hours trek at the elevation of approximately 690m. Along the route there is a police checkpost newly built hotels extending their services with facilities of modern toilets and showers to the clients. Eventhough this area are full of hotels, lodges we sleep at the at the tented camp at Naya Bazar near Mani Bhanjyang.

Day 04: Kandbari/Chilchila: Trek duration 5/6 hours with maximum elevation 910m and descending 120m. downwards. We have two routes to follow climbing Tamang village Bhotebas is recommended. After few hours walking trail reaches at the top ridge of 1840m offering a spectacular view of Chhamlang, Makalu , and Jaljale Himal. After a short descend the camping stop Chilchila with a full of teashops ihabitants of Gurung people ends todays trek.

Day 05: Chilchila/Num: This day's trek route includes a place called Mure 2000m where Sherpas and Rais people inhabited since long time. After trekked on a rocky eroded trail that is really a tedious descent that ends at the S-shaped bend in the Arun River known as Num. This area is full of teahouses, shops and there is one school for children.

Day 06: Num/Sedua: Trails are full of ascends and descends and should cross a bridge over Arun River . After crossing the bridge trail follows with flat fertile fields for corn, rice and buckwheat an area of bulloic. Along the route it is very essential to register your arrival at police post and national park office.

Day 07: Sedua/Tashigaun: Trail of trekking goes with northward to meet Manigaun having several streams to cross. Route from Manigaun turns to the west and approaches Kasuwa River with mani wall at 1890m, then Chyansadanda, Ropesa where monks attends for donations. A Sherpa village Tashigaun is famous in this area where is the camp for night halt.

Day 08: Tashigaun/Khongma: Trail contains a lot of thing that makeexcited such as typical sence of herders' hut and shepherds' hut, switchbackking on rocks and flat pastures, Kongma is the poor often muddy camp site. Other attraction and surprising matter is there are available bivouac caves for the accommodation for the people if weather is bad.

Day 09: Khongma/Mumbuk: The superb view of Chhamlang, Peal 6 and Peak 7 and Tutu La 4050m pass then comes Barun River . There is a pass Shipton La 4216m named after Eric Shipton and Hillary used this route to trek out to Dharan after their 1952 Everst reconnaissance. Now the trai descends first and again ascends to Keke La full of rhododendron forests and comes at the camping place Mumbuk 3550m.

Day 10: Mumbuk/Yangle Kharka: Todays trek will be around 4/5 hous beautiful forests, alpine meadows, views of some mountain peaks, tremendous rock clifs dominate the rest of the views. Camp at the large meadow at 3000m of Yangle Kharka.

Day 11: Yangle Kharka/Merek: Yangle Kharka then a large plain area at 3750m on the opposite side of the Barun River called Nghe Kharka, and again comes Ripuk Kharka 3930m. Jhak Kharka, Yak Kharka and at the end of the trek camp at merek.

Day 12: Merek/Shersong: A sandy trail continues sometimes scree as well as moraine. Then entering an alluvial valley and Makalu pops into view just before
Shersong. After going a little ahead there is a beautiful spot for camping at Shersong where you stay overnight.

Day 13: Day trip to Makalu BC : A gradual climb about 100m above Makalu BC which gives you a wonderful views of the south face of Makalu BC . A bit ascent of this the stunningly beautiful view of Buruntse 7220m, Peak 6, Peak 7, Lhotse including Everest are spectacular. After this exploratory side trip you can trace back to the Shersong for ovrnight stay.

Day 14: Sherlong/Yangle Kharka: Retracing to the camping spot Yangle Kharka via Barun Valley .

Day 15: Yangle Kharaka/Mumbuk: Again cotinue retracing the route.

Day 16: Mumbuk/Khongma: Route will be little bit strenuous because of crossing Shipton La pass then retrace to Khongma.

Day 17: Khongma/Tashigaun: Continue retracing the route will be pleasant because of the trail which descends only.

Day 18: Tashigaun/Num: 6/7 a bit ascent up to Num.

Day 19: Num/Chilchila: 5/6 hours trekking.

Day 20: Chilchila/Mani Bhanjyang: 5/6 hours of trekking retrace to camping spot.

Day 21: Mani Bhanjyang to Tumlingtar: 4/5 hours trek that ends at Tumlingtar and camp.

Day 22: Tumlingtar/Kathmandu by air of bus and hotel check-in.
